Introduction
This guide shows how to save an iFixit guide as XML file on your computer, so you'd be able to import it to your CAT Tool project for translation.
-
-
Open the guide you wish to translate in your browser.
-
You'll find a five or six digit number in the URL - it's "152974" in the example shown in the picture.
-
-
-
Copy this number, and open another tab. Then fill in this information in the URL field: www.ifixit.com/api/2.0/guides/NUMBERCODE?type=xml
-
The copied number code of the guide you want to translate should be pasted between the last backslash and the question mark where you see “NUMBERCODE”.
-
This way, you will get this URL: www.ifixit.com/api/2.0/guides/152974?type=xml
-
-
-
Hit ENTER to open the XML file in your browser. You will obtain a view like in the picture here.
-
Save the file in the folder you intend to save all files of your CAT tool project.
-
You're now able to import the file to your CAT tool. NOTE: It might become necessary to do an XML conversion before adding the XML file to your CAT tool project as soon as we implement the function of automatically feeding the translations back onto our platform.
